Take control with Advanced MotoringWhether you have just passed the driving test, or have many years’ experience, you can benefit by being an Advanced Driver. Driving is becoming more hazardous. The conditions on our roads and the laws that govern them are constantly being changed. Youths may have reactions that are quicker and eyesight that is sharper. Mature driver should have gained patience and understanding. Both have to strive for expertise. It doesn’t come automatically. How often do we hear "I’ve been driving for years without an accident"? Is that good driving or good luck? Most of us think that our driving is good, but it only takes one small accident to regret that assumption. CAN YOU BE SURE YOU’VE GOT IT RIGHT? Mastering advanced driving skills means not only better driving but also more enjoyable and safer driving. How do you deal with overtaking, cornering, reversing, parking and many other everyday hazards? Do you feel totally confident about joining a motorway? When did you last look at a copy of The Highway Code? Why not make your trips more enjoyable and far more relaxing in today’s demanding traffic conditions? You could even become a better insurance risk, taking advantage of the reduce premiums offered to IAM membership by many companies. Worcestershire Group of Advanced Motorists is affiliated to the Institute of Advanced Motorist and offers local residents the opportunity to join them on their well-structured courses. During this time you will be given the opportunity to put theory into practice in your own vehicle with a trained Observer, until those skills you personally require have been mastered. You will then be ready for the IAM Advanced Driving Test, which is taken locally. The costs are modest as they include just the adminstration and test fee to join as an Associate Member, as the on road sessions are free of charge. Observed runs are provided FREE of charge by our volunteer Observers, thus avoiding the cost of professional instruction. Make the effort. Be a responsible driver,
Institute of Advanced Motorists The IAM is the foremost motoring organisation devoted to raising driving standards, which it believes, can make the most significant contribution to the reduction of road accidents. This belief is supported by the fact that qualified Advanced Drivers have between 50% and 75% fewer accidents. The IAM has established the Advanced Driving Test, which is carried out by qualified examiners who hold a Police Advanced Driving Certificate.
