Most Associates complain that, as their Observers encourage compliance with speed limits, they experience an increase in the dangerous practice of tailgating. We believe this indicates a need for general education regarding the minimum safe following distance as in Rule 105 of the Highway Code. A year or two ago this Group produced rear adhesive stickers for window, boot or bumper use, "PLEASE KEEP A SAFE DISTANCE, 2 seconds minimum, 4 secs. when wet", some of which remain available at £2.75 each.

We have now obtained a supply of "RU 2 CLOSE?" front adhesive stickers for rear window use, 11" x 2.8", from the Scottish police forces who mounted a joint campaign in the winter of 2005/6.
